Every 3 to 5 years
In Arkansas it is recommend that you have your tank pumped every three to five years. Now there are situations in which you may need to have your tank pumped more frequently. For example if you have an older systems or if you have a full household and it gets used more than it was designed for, this may require more attention.
-
Yes, its an investment.
The average cost of a new septic system is $14,000 - $40,000. As the years pass by our understanding and knowledge of onsite wastewater increases, so state and federal agencies become more observant. This inevitably leads to stricter regulation which often times can cost the consumer more money.
Properly maintaining your system now can help lessen headaches in the future.
-
Longevity.
Your septic system is not designed to last forever, but regular pumping and maintenance can help to increase the longevity of your drain field. Under proper care the average septic system will last about 40 years, possibly more.
-
Septic filters.
Many systems in the NWA area have filters. The filter works as a barrier, it keeps sludge leaving your tank and entering into your drain field lines. The filter needs to be taken out and cleaned (sprayed thoroughly with a garden hose) and then put back in its place. This is a service that we offer or we can show what is involved in proper filter cleanings.
-
Routine maintenance.
Think of routine maintenance as “preventative maintenance,” the cost of pumping your septic tank every 3-5 years is likely to be a fraction of the cost of having to replace your system due to neglect.

Warning signs.
Don’t ignore the warnings signs of a system failure. Some signs to look for include: water draining slowly or not at all, a gurgling sound coming from your pipes, soggy or damp soil in your yard (usually over your leach field), and sewage back up in your drains. If you are experiencing any of these or something not listed, give us a call and we can help you determine what needs to be done.
